Six Merry Little Brothers We.
[Page 172.]
Six children sit in rows of three, facing one another, and holding Kindergarten balls in their hands. The children in ring go through the same motions as those in centre of ring.
First Verse.
Children in rows softly roll their balls across from one to the other; then cover them with hands, leaving the strings hanging out for the tails of the mice. who are supposed to he asleep. Children rise, make their balls hop up and down, jump about, and then toss them hack and forth one to the other. They lift them high in air, now high or low, as suggested by the wrords in the song.
Second Verse.
As the colors are named the children hold the balls together iu line according to colors called, while softly swinging them to and fro.
Third Verse.
Children hold balls in hands with strings hanging down while they curve and twist them like the tails of kites; they hide them from sight by lifting high in air, or covering with hands while holding them up high. They swing them swiftly round and round, again holding by string, or roll around in ring. Toss them about here and there, hold them in hands curved to represent nests, while the children all pretend to be asleep.
Fourth Verse.
Swing the ball to and fro very slowly to represent the swinging of bells. The same motion continued in imitation of the swaying of the pendulum of a clock. As the children in rows come to the last words of the song they all turn and bow to those in ring, while softly swinging their balls to and fro. They then return to places in ring.
